We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic In-House Legal Counsel to join our corporate team, focusing on legal matters related to Risk and Legal Affairs. This role will be instrumental in advising on legal risks, ensuring compliance, and supporting internal departments with legal guidance to protect the company's interests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and support to the Risk and Legal Affairs departments on a wide range of issues.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with business operations, contracts, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal, state, and industry-specific regulations.
- Support the development and implementation of risk management strategies and policies.
- Liaise with external counsel on litigation, regulatory matters, and specialized legal issues.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making and policy development.
- Assist in internal investigations and provide guidance on legal implications of findings.
- Deliver training and guidance to staff on legal and compliance matters relevant to their roles.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
- 5+ years of experience in corporate law, preferably with a focus on risk management or regulatory compliance.
- Strong understanding of legal frameworks related to corporate governance, employment law, and regulatory affairs.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the transportation or logistics industry.
- Familiarity with Tenstreet or similar applicant tracking systems.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
